Here’s more of a practical update for all of you. Thank you, thank you all so much in advance for your thoughts, prayers, messages, all the things. Much, much love back to you all.
My family and I decided this week to start back up chemotherapy treatment at Nationwide Children’s hospital. My first day was this past Monday, and—I’ll be honest—I have never had a chemo drug hit me so hard so quickly! Feeling much better now that it is later within the week, but it was definitely a shock at first! Prayers for rest, for general well-being are much appreciated!
Here is what my life will look like for about the next year (or more, knowing my doctors who take the best care of me for sure! Even though stubbornly disagree at times haha)
I will be going into to NCH for a full week to receive treatments. Like a job, I clock in to get chemo and clock out at the end of the day to leave. During my day, I see my doctors, nurses, maybe a visitor or 2, a massage therapist (yes, you heard that right haha, a good perk in deed!). I wait for chemotherapy to get made, take lots of nausea meds beforehand, take chemo pills, wait some more, have an IV chemo drip for 1.5 hours, wait another hour, then I’m good to leave! It looks like I’m going to be in the during those days for about 5 hours each, clock-in, clock-out.
After the week of 5 consecutive days of clock-in, clock-out chemo, I get 2 weeks off. During those 2 weeks I am to rest, get my bloodwork checked, and pray that nothing crazy (like getting sick, catching a fever, anything really to send me back to the hospital) doesn’t happen. Then the full 5 day clock-in, clock-out chemo begins again. Each one of the 3 week periods are called “cycles,” and after so many “cycles,” I am to get more scans around November to where we are at progress-wise. November will also decide whether or not I get surgery to remove the tip of my left hip bone and get post-radiation on the area.
Some of you have asked about my practical needs, so for those who are interested, here are some I can think of:
1. Vitamin Water.
4. Walgreens gift cards (I buy activated characol from there to take with every meal. And yes, who knew you could take that?! I had no idea!)
I do enjoy having visitors! I just ask that you give me 1 day notice, and that you give me another 3o minutes notice the day of. Sometimes my days are off, and I have just no idea how I might feel, dispite how much I would love to spend time with you!
Lastly, please be praying for supernatural energy. I need to be plugged into the Vine, and I need Him! Just having a hard time to consistently going to the Vine, the Living Water, despite I know how much it is true and I need Him! John 7.37, John 15. That I know is the biggest request despite all mentioned. I need Him, I need Him. Sustainer, Sustaner.
1 You, God, are my God,
earnestly I seek you;
I thirst for you,
my whole being longs for you,
in a dry and parched land
where there is no water.
2 I have seen you in the sanctuary
and beheld your power and your glory.
3 Because your love is better than life,
my lips will glorify you.
4 I will praise you as long as I live,
and in your name I will lift up my hands.
5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;
with singing lips my mouth will praise you.
6 On my bed I remember you;
I think of you through the watches of the night.
7 Because you are my help,
I sing in the shadow of your wings.
8 I cling to you;
your right hand upholds me.
9 Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;
they will go down to the depths of the earth.
10 They will be given over to the sword
and become food for jackals.
11 But the king will rejoice in God;
all who swear by God will glory in him,
while the mouths of liars will be silenced.
